Simon Fisher is a Barrister and practices in Brisbane, Queensland. Simon holds the degrees of LLB (Hons) (NSWIT); Cert. PLT (Kuring-gai CAE); LLM (QUT). Simon was also a Member of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal over 2004 – 2009.
Simon has taught law at undergraduate and postgraduate level in Australia and internationally, on the topics of religious liberty law, commercial law, corporate law, insolvency law, revenue law, administrative law, property law and family law.
Simon has been and is involved as counsel in several high-profile Australian cases involving the defence of prosecutions of street preachers in public places and the defence of protesters prosecuted for remaining outside abortion clinics within statutorily-mandated exclusion zones.
Simon is a well-published and recognised legal author inside and outside of Australia, particularly in the field of law and religion, commercial law and corporate law. Simon is the co-author of Churches, Clergy and the Law (1997) and has authored several other works involving the intersection of law and religion. Simon has delivered many addresses to professional audiences, academic audiences, theological colleges, seminaries, Christian schools and community groups. Simon has been interviewed in the national media (ABC radio) on Christian topics.
