Michelle began her career working with survivors of sexual abuse as a social worker in sexual assault centres, and later helped pilot the restorative Family Group Conference model within the Australian child protection system. Michelle completed her PhD in restorative practices in child sexual abuse. In 2015, Michelle was appointed CEO of Tzedek, a support service funded by the latest Royal Commission which aims to create a Jewish community free of child sexual abuse.
Michelle has also worked for 25 years as a Regulation 7 Welfare Officer and Family Report writer with the Federal Circuit Court, and was a Dispute Resolution Conference Convenor at the Children’s Court of Victoria. She is a mediator and child consultant with the newly formed Jewish Mediation Centre, and was also recently appointed as a Restorative Engagement Facilitator with the Department of Defence.
