Director of Catholic Education | Diocese of Sale
Maria commenced as Director of Catholic Education in the Diocese of Sale in 2012. During 38 years in Catholic education, Maria has been a classroom teacher, principal of two primary schools and has worked in educational administration at a senior level for 18 years. Prior to Maria’s current role, provided strategic and practical advice and support in Catholic Education to the dioceses of Melbourne, Ballarat, Sandhurst and Sale, as well as having management of staff groups overseeing Religious Education, Professional Learning, Pastoral Care and Student Wellbeing.
Maria was a member of the Ministerial Advisory Council for the Victorian Institute of Teaching (MACVIT), commissioned by the Victorian government, which recommended the establishment of the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) as a registration and regulatory body for the teaching profession in Victoria. Maria served on the interim and first Councils of the VIT as the representative of the Catholic Education Commission of Victoria.
Maria has been a member of several school boards, a hospital board of management and is currently a member of the Good Samaritan Education Governing Council, the Passionist Congregation Formation Commission and Professional Standards Advisory Committee.
